Terms, refunds and privacy
Short version: Next Scene makes short AI video scenes from what you type, everyone with a story link can watch it and add to it, credits pay for generated scenes, and failed scenes are refunded automatically.
1. What Next Scene is
Next Scene is a shared story game. You pick an opening scene, write what happens next, and an AI video model generates the next few seconds. Anyone who has the story link can watch every scene and add the next one. Opening clips are pre-recorded samples; every other scene is generated from user text.
2. Accounts and sign-in
You sign in with your e-mail address only. We send a one-time link that expires after 15 minutes. A session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. There is no password. You must be at least 16 to use Next Scene and at least 18 to buy credits.
3. Credits and payments
- One credit generates one scene. Credits are sold in packs, in US dollars, and are shown before you pay.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- A credit is taken when you submit a scene. If the scene cannot be generated, or the video model rejects it, the credit is returned automatically.
- Credits do not expire while the service runs. They cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
- Unused credits: contact us within 14 days of purchase and we refund the unused part of that pack.
- Generated scenes are digital content delivered immediately. Once a scene has been generated, that credit is not refundable, except for the automatic refund above.
4. What you may write
Stories are public to anyone with the link, so keep them fun. Do not write scenes that depict real people, minors in any sexual or harmful context, sexual content, graphic violence, hate, harassment, or anything illegal. Do not include personal information about yourself or others. The video model has its own safety filter; rejected scenes are refunded. We can remove stories or block accounts that break these rules.
5. Rights in the scenes
You keep whatever rights you have in the text you write. You give us permission to generate, store, stream and show the resulting scenes to anyone who opens the story link, and to use short excerpts of public stories to promote Next Scene. Generated video is produced by a third-party AI model and may not be eligible for copyright protection in your country; we make no promises about that.
6. Privacy
- What we store: your e-mail address, the names and text you type into stories, the generated video files, credit and purchase records, and server logs with IP addresses kept for abuse prevention.
- Who processes it: our hosting provider, fal.ai (video generation receives the scene text and the previous frame), Stripe (payments), and our e-mail provider (sign-in links).
- Traffic measurement: we run GoatCounter on our own server to count page views and referral sources without analytics cookies. We exclude story IDs, user-written titles and URL tokens from those counts, and respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.
- What we do not do: no advertising, no third-party tracking, no selling of data.
- Deletion: write to the address above and we delete your account, its e-mail address and your purchase history within 30 days. Scenes already inside shared stories may stay, because other people's scenes depend on them; we remove your name from them.
- Cookies: one session cookie (
ns_session) after sign-in, plus local storage on your device for the app shell. Nothing else.
7. Service and liability
Next Scene is offered as is. Generation can be slow or fail, models change, and we may pause or stop the service. If we stop the service permanently, we refund unused credits. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.
